Marevellous Melbourne

Marevellous Melbourne

1851 through to the early 1860’s was a period of discovery, prosperity and population growth for Victoria.

The gold rush was the main cause of discovery. It brought about an influx of people as they flocked in their hundreds hoping to get a piece of the rush of gold that the sunburnt sands of Ballarat promised.

The decade that proceeded from 1851 was indeed a prosperous one for population and infrastructure alike. The people of Victoria doubled as the shores of Melbourne saw ships from beyond the horizon try their luck at the goldfields. With a large population coming in the infrastructure soon followed.

The city spanned out from Port Phillip as new suburbs from Toorak, Kew and Malvern to Collingwood and Fitzroy were established and property really started to boom.

The creation of schools, community centres, churches and the railway followed soon after as the age of Marvellous Melbourne continued to develop into the present day.

Melbourne today is a living and developing archive of its own history. The city scape is a direct result of the men and women in the goldfields.

Each brick of every historical building is a direct result of the working class who laboured to build infrastructure that would stand as a historical record of their hard work and outlive generations to come.

We’re proud to be a part of this ongoing property and infrastructural growth and to service all areas of this beautiful city!
